Portable water testing.
Four contaminants. One device.

Rispri Labs delivers a compact, battery-powered water testing device, developed with IIT Bombay, that measures arsenic, fluoride, chromium (VI) and iron at the source and compares results with WHO limits. Lab-grade screening, wherever the water is.

What it means for you

Four-contaminant water testing, on site.

4 in 1

arsenic, fluoride, chromium and iron measured with one device.

Minutes

not days: results at the well, pump or outlet.

740 g

battery-powered and light enough for any field visit.

Performance

A field laboratory in a 740 g box.

Arsenic, fluoride and chromium are invisible, and most villages and sites are hours from a laboratory. This device brings colorimetric testing to the source, so unsafe water is flagged the same day.

Challenge and response

The problems this solves.

  1. 01
    The challenge

Samples travel for days to a distant laboratory.

    How we solve it

Test at the source and read the result on the spot.

  2. 02
    The challenge

Field kits test one contaminant at a time.

    How we solve it

One device measures four contaminants in sequence.

  3. 03
    The challenge

Lab instruments are costly and need trained analysts.

    How we solve it

Low-cost, built from standard parts, with minimal training.

  4. 04
    The challenge

Unsafe sources stay in use while results are awaited.

    How we solve it

Flag unsafe water the same day and act on it.

How it works

The process, step by step.

  1. 1

    Sample

Water is mixed with a selective reagent in a cuvette.

  2. 2

    Select

A rotary switch picks arsenic, fluoride, chromium or iron.

  3. 3

    Measure

An LED tuned to that reaction's colour reads the change through a photodetector.

  4. 4

    Report

A microcontroller converts the reading to concentration in ppm or ppb.

Standards and regulations

Designed around the rules that apply to you.

We design each system to meet your consent conditions and the regulations for your sector, and our laboratory reports against them.

  • IS 10500:2012Indian drinking water limits for arsenic, fluoride, chromium and iron.
  • WHO drinking water guidelinesInternational guideline values the device reports against.
  • Jal Jeevan Mission water quality frameworkField testing of drinking water sources by communities.
  • Environment (Protection) Rules, 1986Discharge limits for hexavalent chromium and iron.

Questions

Frequently asked questions.

Which contaminants does it measure?

Arsenic (III and V), fluoride, hexavalent chromium and iron (II). Results are shown in ppm or ppb and compared with WHO limits.

How accurate is it?

Results were cross-verified against laboratory UV-Vis spectrophotometers, ICP-AES, ICP-MS and ion-selective electrodes on tap, canal, lake and river water. For regulatory reporting, our NABL-accredited laboratory confirms results.

Does it need mains power or a laboratory?

No. It runs on two 9 V batteries, weighs about 740 g and measures 19.5 × 12.5 × 8 cm.

How long do the reagents last?

Up to 28 days.

How ready is the device?

It is a validated prototype at TRL 5, tested on real water samples. We deploy it with field teams through pilot programmes.
